The Höfner HOF-5-7 is a handcrafted double bass made from select European tonewoods, reflecting the centuries-old German tradition of violin, cello, and bass making. Built using time-honored techniques, the Höfner workshop produces these instruments with quick response, full-bodied tone, and clear projection. Its warm-brown varnish is moderately antiqued in homage to Höfner’s historic beginnings in Schönbach.
The bass features fully carved spruce and maple construction, complemented by an ebony fingerboard and tailpiece. It is fitted with Rubner machines, a Teller bridge with classic brass height adjusters, and an ebony and steel endpin. The instrument is professionally adjusted with Pirastro Obligato strings.
