The Höfner HOF-225-FR is a Vintage Series violin based on a 1679 instrument by Francesco Ruggieri (1630–1698). Strongly influenced by Nicolo Amati, Ruggieri developed a distinctive approach to violin making in Cremona. His work was later recognized and appreciated by generations of concert soloists and knowledgeable collectors.
The violin features ebony Parisian-eye pegs and endbutton, a Despiau “A” level French bridge, an ebony tailpiece with E tuner, and a Guarneri-model ebony chinrest. It is fitted with Pirastro Evah Pirazzi Gold strings, including a silver G string and loop-end E string, for a refined and responsive playing experience.
