The Gold Tone CEB-4 Marcy Marxer Cello Banjo is a meticulously crafted revival of the rare cello banjo, an instrument popular in the early 20th century but largely vanished by the 1930s. Handcrafted with a 14" multi-ply maple rim, rolled brass tone ring, and a Remo Renaissance head, it delivers rich, resonant low-end tones with projection and clarity. The high-gloss vintage brown finish and nickel-plated hardware complete its elegant, period-inspired aesthetic.
Tonally, the CEB-4 offers deep, punchy low banjo voices, tuned in fifths (CGDA) for familiar fingering to mandolin, mandola, cello, or viola players. Its 24-3/4" scale and high-tension nylon strings provide ease of play and dynamic response, while dual coordinator rods and a maple/ebony bridge ensure precise action and balanced tone.
