The Gold Tone OT-800LN is inspired by the legendary banjos of the “classic” era (1890–1930), when the Boston School of banjo making set the gold standard. Built on the foundation of a pre-WWII-style Tubaphone tone ring—featuring a square-section brass tube mated to a solid brass rod encased in a turned brass sleeve—this banjo delivers rich sustain, powerful projection, and pleasing harmonic overtones.
The 11" three-ply maple rim with bracket-band mounting boosts resonance and eliminates rim drilling for enhanced tonal clarity. A Remo Renaissance head and maple/ebony bridge add warmth and focus, while the No Knot tailpiece completes its vintage authenticity. The extended long neck gives players access to deeper tunings like EBEG#B, expanding versatility for folk, clawhammer, and ensemble playing.
The OT-800LN’s maple neck and bound ebony fingerboard, inlaid in traditional old-time style, offer smooth playability across 25 frets.
