Developed in late 2018 by Banjo Ben Clark, Jake Stogdill, and Robby Boone, the JD Crowe “Banger” Replica banjo by Gold Tone faithfully recreates one of the most iconic banjos in Bluegrass history. Modeled after JD Crowe’s original Gibson RB-3, this instrument revives classic craftsmanship with a “No Hole” brass flat top tone ring, prized for its tight sustain and cutting projection.
Built with mahogany neck and resonator, a 3-ply maple rim, and nickel-plated hardware, the “Banger” offers vintage looks and tone true to the 1930s style. Notable design touches include slanted resonator sidewalls, concentric resonator rings, pearloid leaves & bows inlay, and a Presto-style tailpiece. This model comes in a natural high-gloss brown finish and is factory set up in Florida for professional performance.
Includes an archtop hardshell case and a lifetime transferable warranty. Left-handed, Zero Glide nut upgrade, capo spikes, or pickup installation available as options.
