The Gold Tone Maple Mountain 150 (MM-150) is a flagship openback banjo that captures classic Old-Time style with modern playability and affordability. This model was Gold Tone’s first openback banjo and continues to set the standard for budget-friendly instruments that don’t sacrifice quality.
The MM-150 features a half-inch-thick maple rim paired with an authentic Whyte Laydie-style scalloped three-piece brass tone ring and an 11" Remo Renaissance head, delivering rich, clear tones with plenty of projection. A comfortable maple neck with a frailing scoop and snowflake inlays adds traditional charm, while planetary tuners and a No Knot tailpiece keep it reliable and player-friendly. The Fairbanks-style headstock, vintage-style armrest, and professional setup in Florida complete this festival-ready package.
