The CEB-4 Cello Banjo revives an instrument that vanished in the 1930s, once a staple in early 20th-century banjo orchestras and clubs. Developed in collaboration with Marcy Marxer, this 4-string cello banjo delivers a deep, resonant low banjo voice unlike any other.
Tuned in fifths (CGDA), the CEB-4 is equally effective for lead or accompaniment roles. Its shortened 24-3/4" scale makes fingering easier, while the high-tension nylon strings provide a dynamic, punchy tone that’s easy on the fingers. With a 14" maple rim, rolled brass tone ring, and Remo Renaissance head, this instrument projects rich lows with clarity and power. Mandolin, mandola, cello, or viola players can adapt to the CEB-4 instantly, as its tuning and feel are immediately familiar. Available as a left-handed model.
